Before you buy a charger

  • Check your vehicle's onboard charging rate
  • Decide where you'll park and charge
  • Have your panel's load reviewed
  • If you're in a condo, ask the association about its EV policy

Installation steps

  1. Load review

Can the panel support a dedicated circuit?

  2. Route and location

Shortest safe wiring path to the parking spot.

  3. Permit and approval

Permit where required; condo approval where applicable.

  4. Install and test

Circuit, charger, testing and app setup.

Condos

Association approval usually covers the location, the electrical path, metering and who owns the equipment. Expect building coordination and insurance certificates.
