Which office?

Homes inside Naples city limits generally go through the City of Naples Building Department; much of the surrounding area goes through Collier County. Marco Island, Bonita Springs and Lee County addresses have their own authorities. Your contractor confirms the right one.

Who pulls the permit

The licensed electrical contractor doing the work applies for the permit and schedules inspections. Be cautious of anyone who asks you to pull the permit yourself for their work.

Inspections and closeout

Inspections happen at required stages; the permit is closed after final inspection. Open permits can complicate a sale or insurance, so make sure yours is closed. See Collier Clerk: Permits 101 for Collier County's explanation.

Permit rules and portals change. Check the current authority before relying on any summary, including this one.
